Chipped k9 teeth

Chipped k9 teeth

I noticed my newly adopted husky's k9 teeth are in poor condition.  One is chipped 3/4s of the way which one doc has recommended to have extracted.  I noticed this weekend the other K9 teeth is chipped on the inside of the curve.  What are the usual recommendations a vet would give for this condition?

I'm concerned because I was told the K9 holds a lot of the mouth's structure.  If both were extracted, would his mouth droop?  Have alignment problems?

Chipping alone is not a good reason to have a tooth extracted.  It may be a good reason for drilling off the sharp edges, though.  If there is pain, tooth root exposure, or a mechanical problem, (such as a sharp slab fracture of the tooth cutting the mouth or lips), then there would be a good reasons for extraction.  If extraction is necessary, there should be no structural problems unless the damage extends to the jaw itself.

There are veterinary dentists at most teaching hospitals and specialty referral clinics who can perform caps, root canals and fillings, and all facets of dentistry.  I think that a visit to one of these dentists would be very helpful.
