Would it be okay to give a human Laxitive to a dog, if they were having trouble using the bathroom.

I agree with Dr. Humphries! There are times that human medications may be prescribed for you to use in your dog, but ONLY after a thorough physical exam and possible diagnostic testing to determine what is causing the problem. When laxatives are used in dogs or cats without the proper supervision, they have the potential to cause SERIOUS problems. Definitely seek out your veterinarian's help for your girl.

No sir.  Please see a veterinarian.  There are a variety of reasons dogs have constipation and that must be diagnosed by a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and proper treatment given.

Human meds are almost never proper to give to pets.  Doses are different, reactions are different and in some cases even an innocent med can cause death of a pet.

Please consult a D.V.M.
