Ear Mites

I think my puppy might have ear mites? I've been cleaning his ears out a lot, he has a brown yeast build up that I swab out with cue-tips but our other puppy had the same issue and had ear mites.. How can I tell? Could my puppy use the same medication as we used on our other dog (same parents separate litters) if it's only been a year?

I've also noticed what look like bug bites on my skin, and while my puppy sleeps with me I cant imagine what they would be coming from..

Please have your vet check his ears.  Tresaderm would be the appropriate antibiotic for mites and/or the brown yeast infection (malassezia P. yeast).
