Grunts

Grunts

Mostly evertime my dog lays down, she grunts. When we move her closer to us, she grunts. I took her to the vet, bloodwork came back normal. In November, I took her in for complete bloodwork and x-rays, they came back normal. Can her age have anything to do with it?

Thank you,

Bernice

I am glad that all of her blood work, and X-Rays were normal!

Age may certainly have something to do with it.  All animals, including humans age differently.  At 9 years of old she probably does have some arthritis in her spine and other joints which can certainly worsen with bad weather.

If she is not currently taking glucosamine/chondroitin supplements she probably should.   Adequan is an injectable supplement that also helps.  A non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, such as Rimadyl and pain medication such as Tramadol may also be necessary during change of season and winter months.   Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories and Tramadol work synergistically to relieve joint pain and are more effective together than either separately.  Ask you vet if these may help.  These are available by prescription.
