Hind Leg Shaking- Please help

Hello,
I have an 11 year old Italian Greyhound. Recently, his left hind leg has started to shake non-stop and I am wondering if this could be more than just age but maybe something like Arthritis. Do you recommend taking him to vet or do you think that they will just tell me information that I already know? I would appreciate any help. Thank you.

Of course a veterinary exam is always a good idea with any abnormal sign like this.  However leg shaking is a pretty general symptom.  A good neurological / physical exam  could turn up something that may be treatable, but you won't know until you at least have this basic step done.  A set of x-rays of the hips may allow the doctor to identify the problem and prescribe easy to give meds that will help with the pain.

You may also try some heat and massage at home and see if that helps. Light walking or even swimming if you can, also may help.  Arthritis can certainly cause this (reaction to slight / general pain) and these home physical therapies may help.  It does give you something to do.

Good luck.
