I think my cat has Triclosan (pesticide) poisoning...

I had a flood in my apartment, and after the water extraction, the carpet cleaning company sprayed Microban, (a.k.a Triclosan) to "prevent mold and mildew" as they briefly explained.

About three days later, I had ANOTHER flood and another Microban treatment.

A few days ago (roughly 3 weeks after the treatments to the carpet) my cat began displaying terrible signs. He became jaundiced, lethargic, and began dropping weight at a rapid rate and urinating outside of the litter box. Prior to the symptoms, he had been acting a bit strange-he had been very attached, following me around whenever he could, but I thought he was just attached.Turns out that was NOT the case.

Tests showed that his red blood cell count was low-at 18%, when normal is 30-35 and they are not producing as they should be.

His globulins (?) were also low and he is anemic.

Could this be because of the Triclosan? It is the only element that has changed in our home recently-I never knew it was a pesticide and the carpet company didn't elaborate...at all.

Later I read the fine fine print which warned me that if I re-entered my home, they were no longer liable for what happened to me in result of the spray.

Guess I wouldn't know since they never asked me to LEAVE the house, but whatever.

Does anyone have experience with this?

Wow,  I have really been unable to find much about Triclosan toxicity except in earthworms.  The only information that I have found in cats and Triclosan is that it can eliminate much of the bacterial in the cat's digestive system including the beneficial bacteria which would lead to diarrhea.

Could you please see if there could have been some other toxin exposure that could have caused the problem?  It there was anything else please post again.  And, I hope the best for your cat.
