Infection from incision?

Infection from incision?

My male yorkie was neutered today, I understand that it is normal that he is peeing indoors since he is in pain and is unable to hold it in, but he peed on himself and i was wondering if he can get an infection from this? The Humane Society said not to bathe him for 6 days, what is another option?

It is only very unlikely that he would develop an infection from getting his incision wet from a little urine.  Keep an eye on the incision and make sure it does not get too red or swollen.

As for your comment "it is normal that he is peeing indoors since he is in pain and is unable to hold it in"...  I don't agree with that.  Even a recently neutered dog should be able to "hold it" until normal visits outside.  This can be a reason for a normally house-broken dog to begin house soiling.  So I would reinforce his normal "go out" schedule and not let him get away with more than a rare "accident" because of the neutering.

As for an option for bathing, just towel him down being careful not to get soapy water in that incision.
