Mites and Puppy Food

Mites and Puppy Food

My pup has 2 spots on her hind legs that have lost hair, and two on her face that have lost hair. Today we went to the vet and had a skin scraping and some of the spots, not all, had mites present. My dog is on a puppy/animal food called **** Van Patten's Ultra Premium Dog Food- chicken and rice formula. The vet said that she may not be getting all of her growth nutrients because she isn't on a puppy specific food. What do you think? Can you recommend a good organic or natural puppy food? It should be lower protein (22% or under) because she has breed specific hyperuricemia. Thanks!

Many puppies get mites.  Diet is not the only cause.  Anything that the dog perceives as stress can bring them out,  a change in the environment, for instance can cause a dog stress.  However, due to your dog's condition optimal food is necessary.  Please go on the following website to research dog foods.  I highly recommend this web site and I agree with the recommendations:

Additionally, the medication: Orgotein has been shown to be helpful for hyperuricemia in Dalmatians.
