My chinchilla's ears? Weird splotches?

My chinchilla is a standard gray chinchilla and he has off whitish spots on his ears. It's not birthmarks because they developed after I bought him. I heard that they can get cancer on their ears. Is that what it is?

It would be best to have his ears checked by a vet.  Skin fungus, skin parasites, and skin infections can cause this type of pattern.  These problems are very treatable.
Skin cancers usually only appear as one spot.
