Hello,
My wonderful 17year old Maine Coon, Aspen, has valiantly fought CRF for 4 years and now has been diagnosed with mast cell abdominal cancer. It is time for us to put her to sleep.
She is, despite weakening and weight loss, still a "pistol" at the vet, complete with spitting , howling and general agitation. I want to say goodbye to her at my home, give her some sort of SERIOUS sedative and take her in for the final injection. I would really prefer she be asleep, not just "relaxed".
I have heard people use Ace, but wondered what you would suggest as a true "knock out" that I can give at home. I have been giving her subQ fluids for years, so am not turned off by needles if that is better than a pill.
Aspen is now just 8 lbs (down from her healthy weight of 14).
Thank you!
Karen
