For Dogs: Do pregnant females have the same HCG hormone as humans when pregnant? Can pregnancy for a dog be test via urine with an over the counter pregnancy test?

Hi,

No, canines do not have human chorionic gonadatropin (hCG) hormone and therefore cannot be tested using a home pregnancy test. There is a relaxin assay that is useful in dogs but is not reliable until 28+ days.  Ultrasound can be an effective early detection test as well.
