I think time will tell on that question. I think that cats, like people, have increased eating days and decreased eating days. I know my sons' certainly do. Some times I have to beg them to eat and other days I think they are going to eat me out of house and home. It all works out in the end. I would keep a food diary for your cat. You may find that after an increased eating day she decreases for a couple of days. Trust the doctor from AMC also.
Hello,
Thank you all for your help, especially Dr. Cheng for the AMC recommendation,
Although, there was no team waiting for us at the door :) I think we accomplished something.
First the doctor dismissed all the previous diagnosis and especially was concerned that she was given so many medications like steroids and antibiotics. He assured me that there's no gastric obstruction and he thoroughly checked her up. He was surprised that the one time elevated levels of crystals and ALT were the main reason for changing her diet and giving her bunch of meds.He admitted that at this point he's not"impressed" by the symptomps because she eats and drinks well. He advised me to stop the meds immediately and to observe her for 2 weeks. I gave him the fecal sample and the very same day he called back with the results being negative. He mentioned a pancreatitis as a possible diagnosis but said it's very difficult to diagnose. Her ultrasound pictures claimed as good with no masses or changes.
And the truth is that I suspected this all along- the combo of meds made her lethargy and unfriendly. She picked up her attitude quickly and got back to being my crazy cat - running the house at 30mph :))) Oh I missed that.. Of course, I know it doesn't explain her bouts of innappetance. The doctor suggested that the meds probably tainted the results as well so we need to wait and see. So I watch her daily, her food intake, water and the usual. So far so good.
Dr. Cheng do you have any suggestions why would she had those bouts of inapettance?
Thank you!
How did your appointment go at AMC?
Our osteosarcoma dog had a whole team, as Jaybay said. He got EXCELLENT care.
Jaybay is correct! See my answer under Agatam
If AMC works the way I think it does, it won't be just one doctor on the case. It'll be a team of them. Since it's a teaching institution, nobody will make a move without approval from the higher-ups. Sounds like your kitty will be in excellent hands. Good for you for going the extra mile!
