SKIN CANCER?

My yorkies hair was cut off when he was groomed 2 weeks ago and I noticed this discolored bold spot with some scabbing on his hip. I thought he was nipped while being groomed but, the hair is not growing back.  The spot is also slightly dented in.  I am really worried.  Does it sound like cancer?  What happens if it is?

Or, alternatively, you can have the spot evaluated by a vet and a skin scraping, fine needle aspirate, or biopsy can be performed to be definitive about the cause.

Skin lesions can really be anything such as infections, skin allergies, parasites to benign or metastatic neoplasms.  There are many possibilities.
