I took my puppy Jake had his first shots at 6 weeks and his second shot on Oct 15.10. The vet told me that his first shots didn't count because his mothers milk was still in him and that the shots i was getting that day will be considered his first. Is this true or are they ripping me off?
Your vet is being accurate. Your dog needs one more combination vaccine given 3-4 weeks from the vaccine he received on October 15th. That along with a Rabies shot will be all that he needs. The Rabies vaccination is repeated at 2-3 year intervals depending on your laws. The combination vaccine may be repeated at 3 year intervals, checked inbetween if necessary with antibody titers to verify protective blood levels.
