Teething?

Teething?

I have 2 kittens which I got off a farm and are about 5 months old now.

I have noticed that my female is taking longer to eat her food that usual and sometimes leaves a little bit in the bowl which she will eat if I place her back to the bowl when she walks away.

My vet said when they went for their last vaccination that they would start teething at about 4 and a half months but I would just like to check if you think that is what is happening,

I have had a look at her teeth and her gums are red compared to her brother and I did find a tooth on the floor the other day after they were playing but I'm not 100% sure who it was from.

Shes been like this for about a week but seems to be eating better now that before. When I first noticed it I also noticed that on a cardboard box that she had been chewing there was some blood.

Do you think that it is just teething or should I take her to my vet?

Her brother is fine and doesn't seem to be teething yet. How long do kittens teeth for and at what age is the latest that they start?

Thank you.

Hi,

By 5 1/2 months most cats will have all their adult teeth emerged and by six months all adult teeth should be in wear and the deciduous teeth (baby teeth) all gone. Slow eating and blood from chewing are not uncommon, however, do see your doctor again to ensure nothing else may be going on causing these signs like a owund int he mouth or a foreign body.

Good luck!
