Vaginal Discharge

My dog has had an increasing amount of watery, oderless vaginal discharge. It is slightly yellow, and almost looks like urine, but has no odor. All of her other symptoms are normal, and she still eats, drinks, and plays normally. I have been considering shes in heat, but she has lived with my intact retriever for over 5 years, and has never gotten pregnant. She has the discharge for awhile, but its mostly on and off..some days its there, others not. Its been worrying me lately, and i just want to know whats happening to her.

In an unspayed (intact) female, an open cervix pyometra (infected uterine lining) may present in this way. See your veterinarian for vaginal cytology to determine if the fluid is loaded with white blood cells characteristic of infection. If so, get her spayed.
