acemannan for leukemia

Niki(my baby cat) was diagnosed wit feline leukemia since she was a few months old.  She is now, 1y 2mo and is having respiratory problems (breathing with abdomen). Took her to the vet, and he said she was very ill and gave her antibiotics and medicine to eliminate liquids from her lungs.  I was researching and found a study done in 1991 about how they treated 50 cats with acemannan and how good the result was. But what was surprising is that there were no other studies done.  Should I try this treatment, or have they discarded this treatment. Thanks for your help,

They still perform the Acemannan treatment.  There is another treatment out there that may also help and that is Interferon therapy.  I would do both since your poor cat has nothing to lose.
