blood in urine

I have a male cat, he's been using the bathroom in our two bathtubs and using it on the vents. I noticed today when he urinated in the bathtub there was little blood in it.  I know I need to take him to the ver but this is 4th of July weekend and nothing is open, and I can't afford emergency vet. Is there anything I can buy out there that will help my cat at least over the weekend?

Unfortunately, I have to recommend that you take your cat to the emergency clinic; male cats can develop crystals in their urine that cause bloody urine, straining and eventually blockage; when the blockage occurs they will die due to kidney failure if not treated ASAP, so this is an emergency. If you get him there before he obstructs, then the veterinarian may be able to treat him with medications and a diet change and send him home; it will be much more expensive if he becomes obstructed and then needs several days of in hospital care, a urinary catheter to keep the bladder draining, IV fluids, bloodwork to check his kidneys, etc. There is nothing over the counter that can be recommended.

Having worked in a busy ER clinic for many years, I can tell you that male cats with urinary problems can quickly become a big deal if not handled promptly.

Please follow Dr. Coyner's advice and get your little guy to the ER as soon as you can.  As young as he is, I would sure hate to see something happen to him.  You guys should have 18-20 more years together!
