colorado river toad

Both of my dogs have gotten with a toad this week - (different nights) - I immediatley washed out their mouths but since it was late at nite and I am quite a ways from an emergency vet I did not take them in.  Both were find.  I am wondering if there is anything I should have in my cabinet for this?  Perhaps charcoal??  or anything you can suggest?

thanks

Both of your dogs are very lucky!

Hydrogen peroxide can be given orally once the mouth has been washed out thoroughly.  3 to 4 tablespoons by mouth can be given to induce vomiting.

This can be followed by activated charcoal.

Activated charcoal will help prevent absorption of the toxin and can be administered every 2 hours after suspected ingestion.

Please use a basket muzzle on each of your dogs if there is any risk of toad ingestion.  The toads are attracted to lights, so turn off your lights at night.
