dilated pupils

My cat is 8 years old and lately her pupils are dilated pretty much all the time. She acts like she can see and does run from toys that scare her. Is this normal?

Dilated pupils can be either a symptom of hypertension, or  due to eye disease such as glaucoma.  If the dilated pupils are a symptom of hypertension, than the hypertension can be secondary to hyperthyroid disease, heart disease, and more.

Whatever the cause this is serious and can lead to blindness if not treated, therefore it is a good idea to take your cat to the vet for evaluation and subsequent treatment ASAP.
