limping pig
my potbelly pig, emma, has developed a limp in her right, front leg, seeminly out of nowhere. (we do have dogs, and at times she gets spooked and aburptly runs off.) there's no swelling or hotness, and her hooves appear to be just fine. (they were trimmed at last vet visit) she doesn't seem to mind me touching the area and the leg bends easily.  nonetheless, she clearly doesn't want to walk on it. could it just be a strain or sprain?

Potbelly pigs can get many of the same diseases that afflict other household pets including sprains, strains, tick borne diseases (Lyme disease), arthritis, autoimmune diseases, torn ligaments, etc.

You could request an oral analgesic (pain medication) from your vet, which should help if it is a soft tissue injury.  Pigs are susceptible to gastric ulcers so please don't use Advil, Tylenol, etc.

If the pain doesn't subside soon you probably should have blood work, including a tick profile, and X-Rays performed.
