limping

limping

Our 2 year old cat Gabby began to limp and favor her right leg during the Thanksgiving Holidays.
We took her to the vet and they could not find anything. They took xrays and said she may have
pulled a ligament. They gave her metacam to help with pain but she is still limping. She is still active
and eating. The vet said it could take some time to heal if it was the ligaments. I am still concerned
that we do not know what caused this or if there is anything we can do to help. She will hold her
paw up off the floor when she is sitting, but them jump and run on it. She does not seem to be in
pain when you press or push on any part of her leg or paw. She has never been outside. We got
her and her brother from a shelter when they were babies. We just lost the brother to cardio mythopy (if this is correct spelling) a few days after Christmas. We just want to make sure she gets
treatment and this heals without further damage that we are not aware of. The xrays showed nothing was broken.

It might be best to have a veterinary radiologist read your cat's X-Rays.  In human medicine the radiologist reads the X-Ray's, not the MD.  There are also veterinary radiologists who have graduate training just in reading X-Rays and are much better equipped to read X-Rays than regular "general practitioner" vets.  The vet radiologist may see something that your vet has missed.  It would be even better to get a consult with a veterinary orthopedic doctor.  This would set your mind at ease.  And if there was a problem the orthopedist could fix it.

I would also add a feline cosequin supplement to your cats food (available from your vet), in case it is just a soft tissue injury.
