skin discoloration

Hi, my dog is three years old and is spayed. She has recently had some skin discoloration on the sides of her lower stomach. I was just wondering what it was and if i should be worried. Thank-You.

Please describe the color and distribution of the discoloration--is it dark skin in random small spots, or symmetrical areas of darker skin? Spots usually mean a skin infection, whereas more even symmtrical darkening of the skin on the belly can be related to sun exposure, allergic skin inflammation, or hormonal disorders. Your veterinarian can perform a physical exam +/- skin  scrapings or labwork to determine the cause of the discoloration.
