swollen lymph node

swollen lymph node

I have a 4 month boxer and she ingested a chocolate brownie about 6 days ago. Her lymph node on her neck started swelling. I called my vet and was instructed to observe her stool and to bring her in if there was a change. There has not been a change but the node keeps swelling than going down alittle. Her activity has not changed but I am concerned. Her shots are up to date. I have appointment for her Monday. Should I be more concerned and try to have her seen sooner?

Chocolate contains Theobromine.  Theobromine is the ingredient that is toxic to dogs and cats because their bodies can't break it down, unlike humans.

A single brownie should not contain enough chocolate to cause any problem.  The problems usually seen with chocolate toxicity are agitation or excitement, nervousness, trembling, vomiting and diarrhea, excessive thirst, excessive urination,  muscle spasms,  seizures,  and others.

Swollen lymph nodes are not related to chocolate toxicity.

Dogs can be allergic to chocolate,  which can cause swelling of the throat (lymph nodes), and, irritation and inflammation of the upper respiratory system.

I think that the swollen lymph node in your dog is  probably unrelated to ingestion of chocolate, but should still be investigated for infectious diseases and lymphoma.
