blood in urine

by lindapalm, Oct 22, 2009 02:20PM
I have seven cats.  Yesterday one of them peed on the floor near the litter box, and 3-4 hours later I found it again, almost in the same spot, this time it was blood colored.  Rather than taking each cat to the vet to determine which one it is, were going to try watching them when they use the litter box.  My Question is, will the urine be bloody each time he or she goes, or not necessarily. I'll take each cat for an exam if I have to, but would prefer to try to save money if I can.

Hi,

It can be difficult in a multi-cat household to determine who is having the issue.  Fortunately, if you do end up going to the veterinarian, they will be able to help you obtain a sample.

Blood will not always be visible in every sample.  However, when there is a bladder issue, the cat will usually void outside the box.  Watch for the one who is eliminating in the inappropriate area and you will most likely have your problem kitty.  Good luck.
