pup is bleeding after being spayed

pup is bleeding after being spayed

I had my pup spayed on dec 23rd and she has been immobile and calm but is still bleeding from the incision site. I took her back to the vet yesterday and they say she is fine. All day long today she has been sleeping and has not moved. I took her out on a leash to potty and as soon as we came back in she started bleeding where her staples are. What do i need to do to stop the bleeding and is she in danger of bleeding to death?

Some bleeding post abdominal surgery is to be expected, but when you say all day I start to worry.    Lethargy post surgery could be blood loss or more commonly residual efffects of anesthesia  or just being tired from having the surgery. Your veterinarian can take a quick blood test called a PCV to check to see if your pet is low on blood.  There are also conditions that can reduce the body's ability to clot blood. There are tests for this as well.  Also checking the color of your pet's gums to make sure they are pink instead of pale can give you a clue about blood loss.  It can't hurt to continuously check with your veterinarian when we are worried about bleeding.  Good Luck with your new pet.
