EDEMA

I had problems with my eating habits since I was little. I was an obese- medically confirmed- child
and suddenly, due to a depression, started to loose weight. Anyways, 4 years ago I used to restrict-
not so much, really-
but last summer, after 3 years of being healthy with some small periods of restricting and others of
over-eating( not consiously, it was all natural because I did not intended
to get skinnier or fatter, I just ate what I felt was right) I started to vomit...I suddenly was overweight again.
My period stopped. Then, I received treatment and in 3 months I was in my weight
again and all cured, but in the beginning, I had edema in my legs and feet for about a month...guess
my body was readjusting my liquids.

I was fine for 6 months.  In April, I began to restrict a little bit.
I had a calorimetry (do not how to call it in english) that told me that my calorie need per day was 1080,
and with excercise...around 1400. I am 1.61 cm tall and weight 56 kilograms. Now it is
been 2 months since I began to restrict (like around 700-900 calories) and I vomitted
in the last 2 weeks like 5 times. I am now 52 kilograms...but I had 3-5 days refeeding adequately.
My question...after all of this descriptions...is
if it is possible that with what I've done in the last 2 weeks (only 5 or 6 times I vomited) I am having an edema now that I am refeeding...
or is my metabolism slow and I am getting fat?
I just found out my feet are seriously big...I usually eat loads of salt and sodium
and drink tons of water...

My weight 3 days ago was 51.3 and now I am 52 after refeeding, but I noticed my feet.

Is it an edema? or I am getting fat?

Thank u and sorry for the english, not a native speaker.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Yes.  It sounds very much like edema, especially in the extremities!  Edema needs to be monitored medically.  Water shifts in the body can cause electrolyte imbalances that can be fatal.  Refeeding syndrome also needs to be monitored medically.  Also, so critical is to be addressing the underlying psychological issues that are hidden under the focus of food, weight, and appearance.  To learn more about anorexia, visit the bella vira website.  Best regards, Dr Patricia Pitts The Bella Vita  Los Angeles, CA

I am eating pretty well now and my weight seems
to be in the same range...
just hope not to get my metabolism
slower!!

I do not have my period yet, but I guess that with time
and refeeding it will come back...!
