SHAME!

SHAME!

I'm actually a dietitian, and I've been struggling with my weight issues for as long as I remember. And now I'm working as a dietitian helping people with their problems, and helping them reach their weight goals. But the only person I can't help is myself! and its embarrassing! I'm not over weight, but I could lose a few kilos, and all I do is lose and regain that same kilo. I've been on so many diets that my metabolism's gotten so low, and when i'm upset i go through episodes of binging. And the biggest problem is I can't even seek a dietitian cause that would be bad for my career. I live in a small country that puts a lot of focus on body image. I get clients thinner than me wanting to lose weight, and talking about weight loss adds to my obsession. I don't know what my solution is, and I'm sick and tired of feeling the pressure to be thin since  I am a dietitian.

What a difficult secret to be living with.  Even though you don't believe you can seek out help, you could.  Even if you had to leave your area or country, there is a lot of help out there.  It's hard and self-defeating to treat others when you are caught in your own struggle.  If you think hard enough and think outside the box, you would be able to come up with a treatment solution for you.  Then as the wounded healer you'll be whole for yourself and able to be most fully there for others.  To learn more about eating disorders and treatment options visit the bellla vita website.  Best, Dr Patricia Pitts  The Bella Vita in Los Angeles and Woodland Hills.
