5year old in kindegarten

I have a five year old who started Kindergarten mid-August. She enjoys going to school, however she will not talk at school to her classmates and teachers. She has on occassion whispered to a couple of teachers, but wants to do so without her classmates watching. On the way to and from school in the car she is very talkative, however once we arrive at school she stops and will not even talk to me. A few head nods, but no verbal talking. She does what the teachers ask her at school and particpates non-verbally. When at school she seems withdrawn and does not act like her normal cheerful self and seems unhappy, yet again she says that she likes going to school. She has started over the last couple of weeks complaining that her throats and nose hurts when she is dropped off at school, she does have allergies..... I am curious to know if you have any suggestions for me in this situation.
Her teacher had made this an issue within the classroom and it was discussed with other students in my daughters prescence, this made her more nervous and she doesn't want to anything that involves talking at school....I have requested that the teacher reward her for her attempts even if they are non-verbal and that she provide her opportunities to overcome her anxiety in the classroom.

When I was young, I was afraid of people seeing my feet (for what reason, I don't know). It's most likely a phase, and I'm sure she'll open up once she gets to know people. What you may want to do is talk to and interact with the students and teachers yourself so that your child knows it's ok to do the same.
