It all depends on how the Xanax was prescribed. If it was Rx'd "as needed", then you shouldn't be taking it when you don't need it. If it is Rx'd to be taken regularly, then you should continue to take it as directed.
Most short acting benzodiazepines, like Xanax, are best used on an "as needed" basis versus regularly. That cuts down on any tolerance issues that may crop up with the medication.
When in doubt, ask your doctor. With these types of meds, less is better. If you can do well on a lower, more infrequent dosing schedule, the better off you'll be.

Even thought you did’t have anxiety today, Yes it is fine too still take your Xanax, If you just started to take it for Generalized Aniexty Disorder and it is prescribed by a Doctor. When taking medication for the first time you might have side effects, read your prescription bottle.
