Hi...I have LIVED your life!  I only have 2 kids but have a full-time job and a husband that is verbally abusive.  I have dealt with panic attacks and general anxiety for 18 years without meds because I was too darn scared to take the meds.  So one day, I started my new full-time job and a lot was riding on it.  I had just gone to the doc a week before and he gave me a Cymbalta starter pack.  Of course it sat in the medicine cabinet because I would never take meds.  Then boom.  I had the panic attack of all panic attacks and ended up not being able to drive and having my husband pick me up.  On the way home I called my therapist and she said I would be a damn fool if I didn't try the medicine.  So, I did.  AND IT WORKED!!!!  I actually got my life back.  I was able to fly in a friggin airplane!!!!   about 8 months later I switched from Cymbalta to Zoloft because if you don't take Cymbalta at the same time every day it can cause dizziness and I wasn't good at remembering to take at the same time.  Zoloft is so tested and time trued...like Prozac it has been around for several years.  I am afraid to go back to that "place" (the place where you are now) I will not go off the medicine until I know I am ready.  I don't mix it with anything.  Just plain old Zoloft.  My psych told me that the suicidal warnings are ****...it is there as a warning because depressed people are suicidal..not because the medicine makes you suicidal.  I have never had wierd thoughts at all.  Also, I was always a germaphobe....I learned that this is a bit of an obsessive compulsive disorder and the meds really helped that a lot.  IT will help you..what is the worse that will happen if you try it?  MIllions have tried the Prozac and Zoloft before so it won't kill you.  If it doesn't help you then quit.  But your life is so full of stress you need something to take the edge off.

Do you have somebody around that you can trust that knows you?  I've been denying that I have anxiety or panic attacks for years blaming it on my thyroid.  I finally asked my husband some very hard questions about my self and had to come to some very hard decisions.  To be very truthful, I had to decide to die.  I took the medecine they gave me and laid down to die. I didn't die.  The next day I took the medecine and laid down to die and I still didn't die.  Everyday I expected to prove all the doctors wrong and that there was something very severely wrong with me and everyday I felt a little better.  I quit my job today because I'm going to school and I had to admit that I can't do it all.  Try the Ativan again.  Take the help.  There's nothing feels better then to feel closer to normal.

Read my story on here savygaby. I think your best bet is to get on some meds...at this point in your life and with kids and 2 jobs stressing you out, you need meds to calm you down and prevent any panic attacks so you can go on about your life. I would recommend a beta-blocker combined with a benzo. The type of beta-blocker is specific on the types of symptoms you get. You can try and SSRI antidepressant, but it is not for everyone, yet a benzo. would provide immediate relief. And if you get on one long-term, you can stay pretty much anxiety free. It may take some time to wean you onto it, yet it works wonders for me, and I am pretty much living my life normally now. Yet if it is not enough, combine it with a beta-blocker and possibly and SSRI.

sorry your so scared belive me i have been where you are at am scarted lots times like last night scared me some but i keep telling my self its ok ive been checked and the heart pounding /flutters is not going to kill me . i dont like meds either but it changed my life as far as heart flutters it helps a lot not all the time i still ghet them and like i said get them 24/7 for 9 weeks no fun but i just go to dr everytime i get them like that i wear a heart montor and i feel better about them. if meds will help you take them or you will have worse than just heart palps you will get bad anxiety with it and its hard to rebound back when you get deep into anxiety. try a very low does they have them. no matter what you do talikg to someone or meds your always going to have break throught  and when it comes you just need to try and remember its been going on for a long time and your still here , they wont kill you , see your cardio dr soon get a montor and you will feel better when they catch it on tape and tell you its nothing . it feels like a lot but you will be ok.

sounds like you need anxiety meds to get you back on track, if you are sitting around counting your heartbeats than you need to take something for anxiety, if you have not been checked out by a cardio heart dr than go it will help ease your mind, stop googling its the worse thing you can do, because everything will look like you have it, if you worry about all of it you are going to throw yourself deep into anxiety and its not easy to get out of. am sure you are fine , go dr be checked from head to toe get a drs advice and start trying to live and not worry life is way to short for that .
