Alot of wierd symtoms...SCARED

The last week of January i was sittin in the computer lab in and I felt this warm feeling go from the back of my head straight down to my chest and then my heart started to beat really fast. It happened again like 10min later but not as severe. I went to the ER they took a blood test, blood pressure, and  ekg..everything was normal. I went home and freaked out for two days called my mother crying, i thought the side of my face, ears and arms were getting numb,I was so scared but I truly think that none of those symptoms were happening it was just in my mind because I didnt know what caused the episode before. I was crying hard all day long, calling my parents every other minute. They came down were Im at and took me to the doctor. The doctor did similar tests and said everything was find. She said I had anxiety. During this time I was feeling pressure on my temples that moved under my eye and the pressure felt like someone was trying to squeeze something on my head. After the doctor reassued me that everything was find, I felt much better and back to normal,  just had minor headaches for 6 days. Then one day I felt a real warm spot on my head, but when I touched my head  it wouldne be hot, but it felt like it was in the inside. For about a month the head pressure would be so tight around my whole head and change where the pressue was coming from every other day. I went back to the doctor and i had a ct scan done, eye exam, dentist exam, pregnancy test and the doctor says its just anxiety. The head pressure lessened and i started to feel weak, random body aches, tingling in fingers and feet, and other wierd sensations in my head, and I would feel slight dizzy.  Also during this time period i would just cry all the time. I went back to the doctor she put me on Xanax .25mg, it helped a little but it seemed like it stop working. My father told me to try sinus med, i took sudafed sinus headache med. it worked, so about 6 days i felt fine. But the symtoms are coming back and Im starting to get worried. Now  my symtoms are a little different, postnasal drip, pressure in nose( when laying down the pressue on my nose seem to be weighing down on my mouth which causes my teeth to hurt), i feel like my arms and legs are warm inside but to the touch my temperature seems fine, a little weakness. I am also starting to freak out and cry again. Can someone help me?

Hi here sweetie. I just read your post and realized we have/had quite a few symptoms in common. About three years ago I was diagnosed with panic attacks and was treated with Diazapam. It never worked. Even at 60mgs a day. Along with that, I was constantly dizzy, had a heavy pressure in my head, ears popping, headaches, post nasal drip, vertigo, distorted vision, what I thought were heart palpitations in my throat, flushing ( heat ) of the body, chest and neck pain, pain in my muscles and a slight tingling in my arms and legs at times. To make a long story short, and after a million different medical tests, I found out that I had severe acid reflux disease and I was dangerously low on Vitamin D. While I never experienced the usual burning sensation associated with acid reflux, I did have other common and less common symptoms of the disease. For instance, the dizziness, the heavy pressure in my head, the popping in my ears, the vertigo and the post nasal drip, were the signs that acid was rising far beyond my esophagus and into my sinus cavity. ( I was a smoker and didn't realize that nicotine actually relaxes the esophagus and allows twice as much acid to rise without any restriction. ) Secondly, since I couldn't eat any dairy products by having acid reflux, ( not that I knew that then. I just thought it made me throw up ) along with the fact that I never left my house for fear I would freak out in the middle of a shopping mall with a panic attack, my body was starved for Vitamin D. This was the cause of the body flushes and significantly added to the dizziness and painc.  You see, noth conditions can absolutely mimic panic attacks, as well as the other symptoms I discussed earlier in this post. I suppose I'm trying to say, if you are ever diagnosed with high anxiety, panic attacks or PTSD and to you, the diagnosis just doesn't fit who you know you are. Or, if psychotropic or sinus medications are prescribed and is has no notable effect, don't assume you're crazy or have a brain tumor. Look at other options. I went three years thinking I was completely insane while assuming the worst. Another clue would be that panic attacks aren't incessant by nature and don't usually don't last ten hours to days on end. After being treated with Tagament and prescription Vitamin D, I was back to normal. One last thing, there are several other reasons why one could easily believe they are having panic attacks. Food allergies are one. A histamine intolerance is another. Even the body's response to high levels of Vitamin B can fool even the best of Doctors. Ask questions people. Don't be afraid. Document everything. What were you doing or eating prior to your dizzy spells or panic attacks. You won't be sorry. Best of luck to all of you.

I know exactly what you and the others are talking about.  I have had issues with anxiety for as long as I can remember.  The first time it turned into a panic, attack was when I was 19 y/o.  I am now 32 y/o.  My mother also has issues with panic.  I was told by my doctor that it could be an inherited trait.  Whether it is from genes, environment, or both, I am not sure.  Do you have anyone in your family with anxiety issues?

It is important to do as the other posts suggest.  Remember you have control over it.  It gets easier to recognize when an attack is coming on.  I can actually talk myself out of one.  In addition, I do suggest talking with a therapist.  It helps alot to go and just talk about life in general.  Medication also is a big help.  I know there are some that feel medication for stress, anxiety, depression, etc. should not be used.  These disorders many times are caused by hormone imbalances or neurochemical imbalances.

I'm gonna take a shot at this one... I may be wrong, so correct me if I am.

But, you sound a lot like me...

What I believe has happened here, is that you had a panic attack in the computer lab. You've never experienced this before, so you were very scared... and you kept thinking about it... and it triggered another panic attack...

Now, you are paying very close attention to everything that feels strange with your body... you are over analyzing post nasal drip and feeling tingly sensations on your body etc....

What you are doing here is getting stuck in the cycle of fear. You are having symptoms of anxiety... which scare you right? so what happens when you get scared of those sensations?.... you are scared! and that's whats causing alot of your symptoms.

I'm almost 100% sure all you are having is symptoms of anxiety. There is a list on the forum here of almost every symptom of anxiety... and trust me, there are LOTS of symptoms.... and a lot what you have said above.. are clearly symptoms of anxiety..

You got a clean bill of health from the Doctors... so you need to just try and relax, be calm, and just tell yourself "these are only sensations... caused by anxiety... they cannot harm me. They are only sensations".

I have MANY symptoms of anxiety... if I have a panic attack... the panic attack will leave itself,... .but I will be left with anxiety for days even weeks...

my panic attacks are kinda described like yours above... they come out of nowhere, instead of getting a hot sensation, i get a chill type sensation/pins and needles... and feeling numb... my heart races... etc.

when I'm having generalized anxiety... my heart will race at times... i get pressure behind my eyes... i get headaches... i lose appetite... i sweat in my sleep... i have a hard time sleeping.. etc. etc. etc.

If you don't like taking medication, you should try talking to a psychologist, or a counselor... this helps. =)

You can and you will overcome this! =) I've been anxiety free now for almost 8 months! Praise God! =) And I've taught myself, "if I get anxiety again, or a panic attack, I will survive, I will ride it out... and I will be okay." =)

Also, write in a journal. Keep progress... =) Find out what things are bothering you, or what things stress you out... or better yet, write down positive things, like what makes you happy? and relaxed?

Good luck. Keep in touch. =)

The only thing I can tell you is like all of us you are paying to close attention to your body since your little hot spot episode and know every little feeling you have you associate with something horrible. I do the same thing I just try to tell myself it's nothing and go about my business and try to think about something else. Also see if the doctor will prescribe you something else xanax is good for spur of the moment panic attacks but you need something that is going to help you stable out those feelings.
