Alprozolam .5mg

A few weeks prior to today I went to the doctors because I have developed this brain fog symtom. It is so bad that I can even enjoy the things I love to do which is woodworking. I am 19 years old and work full time as well as go to school full time. I went to my doctors with this brain fog symptom and said that I had a panic disorder and that is why he put me on xanax. For the first week it helped but now it just slightly relieves my symptom. I have had a cbc and a throid check done to help rule out those factors. The blood work all came back great. It just feels like I really am loosing my mind and I dont know what to do. With this I do believe that depression has set in because I never want to go out with my friends or stay up with them and hang out all I really want to do is to sleep alot. And when I do sleep you cant wake me up for anything and when I do wake up it feels as if I have been up for a long night drinking. I do not do drugs nor do I drink heavly. I will have a beer from time to time but nothing much to count. I am just worried that there is something really wrong that I will not be able to control. I have been ridiculed by my friends parents and i am starting to thing my doctor as well. I just need some professional advice and med help is really the only place i can turn to. Just for a little backround this all started with me going to urgent care in july for difficulty breathing. I then got placed on prilosec for gerd. I thought I was having side effects from prilosec so he put me on prevacid along with claritain. Not only that I have had countless nose sprays and had an upper respiratory infection within the past month. So that is what I have been up against for the past several months. I just need help with a suggestion on how to get rid of this so called brain fog because I really dont know how much more I can mentally take. Please Help Tom

hay tom219 , you have the EXACT same symtoms that i have ,i even had the synus infection thing going on , to the going sleep and waking up feeling like i have a massive hangover, how to discribe it is pressure feeling , it feels like im in this constant bubble of brain fog that i cannot get out of, i did my own bit of research and it kinda relates to depersonalization / de-realization , but unfortunatly there is very little research around this, the brain fog i have just constantly lingers , i also suffer from depression caused by the the whole feeling i cannot get rid of
if you manage to find any kinda of usfull reserch on the subject  i would be extremly grateful if you could let me know,of any ways or anything youve found helpful with coping with this
i just wanted to let you know you are not alone :) ,sarah21england

this a really good place, what I would do if I was you is read some of the QUESTIONS posted on this side and see what you relate to, not sure if going to another doctor is the answer, we all seem to have been that route, speak with your Dr. and tell him EXACTLY what is going on, and listen to see if he is showing interest in your concerns. try to be objective. you will find different and sometimes conflicting responses, xanax saved my life, but my life is different from yours, xanax is made for short term use, but I know many people who have taken it awhile AND ARE VERY CAREFUL due to addiction. if a 2nd doctor is in your thoughts then do it, but remember if the 2nd doctor has the same results as the 1st. be real careful because some of us tend to try to find a doctor that will give us a answer we want. there is allot you did not say concerning your TOTAL situation, here in this forum and that is ok, So tell your doctor EVERYTHING. some people get along fine without meds and work out there problems by themselves, some people see a therapist and some people use meds to help clear that mind so they can work on thier situation, good luck buddy and please keep us updated.

xanax is a terrible drug to prescribe for brain fog. xanax isn't designed to be taken everyday as a preventative. if you have anxiety, you need to be taking something more along the lines or zoloft or luvox...etc. i agree that you really should find a doctor more tailored to mental health issues. xanax is great for helping during panic attacks, etc...but taken daily as a preventative it can lead to more problems than it will ever solve....especially since it doesn't sound to me like you have an extreme case of anxiety.

Personally, I would find another doctor who will do more than throw some pills at you. You need to find one who will really LISTEN to everything you are telling him/her. You've been given meds for everything from GERD to URI to Panic Disorder to Claritin.........does this doctor you've been seeing think that an allergy med will clear up "brain fog?"
I am repeating myself, but you really do need to find another doctor. I hope you don't live in a one doctor town, because it's my humble opinion the one you're seeing is a moron.
And what's this you're saying about being ridiculed by your friends parents?! They are morons too! Avoid them at all cost!
It sounds to me, and you do understand that I'm NOT a doctor, right? It sounds to me like you MIGHT have some underlying medical issues, most likely some upper respiratory "thing" since you first went to the urgent care clinic with difficulty breathing.....which could be allergy related or GERD related or both..........but those things need to be ruled out. You then need to be assessed for depression and/or anxiety which could be seperate issues or related to your health issues. But only a good doctor can do this for you. I'm sure you're going to be fine, brain fog is VERY common around here! It's fixable.
All of us here can understand and relate to your fears and I'm really glad you came to us. Please get back with another doctor, tell them everything you've told us and I'm sure you will get to the bottom of your problems.
Feel free to write us as much as you need, someone is always here and let us know what you find out, OK? We're all pulling for ya!
Peace
