Am I suffering from Anxiety?

Some of my symptoms or problems include.  Procrastination (sp). I keep putting things off.  One thing is paying bills. I want get up and get the bills together and pay them.  I have the money and I have almost all of them set up on my computer on on line banking.

I love a clean house but I put off cleaning my house. I don't work or have small children.

I will probably put off putting up my christmas decorations.

I am also over weight by about 60 lbs. I will eat something that is fattening verses something low cal and healthy even though I like it.  I won't go exercise even though I have a membership at the gym and my friend would go with me anytime.

I constantly am sleepy and sleep alot.  I am very hot and sweat a lot even thought it is 30 degreese outside.  I wake up drenched in sweat.

I have been prescribed zanax and it seems to help but, I am afraid I will become addicted.

It's almost 12:55 am.  I am feeling fine or what I would call normal.  After I posted my last message I took an estroven and a xanac.  I had also ran out of a prescription I was given for migraine prevention; propranolol(sp). It is used for blood pressure and anxiety from what I just read.  I have been out of it for a few days. I had it refilled today and my spouse picked it up for me. Maybe one of these meds helped.  I will leave off the estroven and the xanac (sp) and keep taking the propranolol. To see if this was my problem. Thanks for letting me write this.  I know it's scattered but this is the way my situation is coming to me now. I feel like I could exercise now.  One thing that might be my problem is having my nights and days mixed up.  Since I don't work I have been sleeping in and staying up late.

Thanks for your comments everyone.

I am in my late forties and I lost my job about 3 months ago.  I don't feel it has anything to do with that though.  I have a wonderful family and everything to live for.

I take sarafem for pms aka prozac once daily and it really helps with that.  I also take cymbalta and it has helped with muscle pain.

Yesterday I exercised at a mild pace. After about 45 minutes I started feeling very weak and light headed. I had had breakfast earlier so I had an apple and a piece of cheese with me.  I went to my car and ate it.  I had been drinking water during the work out.  I was still weak and left.

I went to a fast food and got a med. choc. milk shake and drank about half of it.  I was fine after that and didn't eat anything else until about 3 hours later.  I didn't get in bed until 3:00 am and slept until 12:00 noon.  I have been sitting on the couch ever since because if I try to do anything I get very weak and start sweating again.  I am dizzy.

I take B12 shot once monthly.  I also take 60meq. of potassium daily.  I have had my thyroid checked for the past 3 years and it is always fine.

I have anxiety also.  I started last year (12/05). I comes around my period. I feel like I cannot breathe at all and I get dizzy. I feel really nervous and I panic over a simple things. My worst fear is getting sick. I panic over a cold or sniffle. Especially if it is my children. I had bronchitis recently and I thought I was going to die.   I am seeing a therapist and we are trying to work through this. However, she had mentioned Celexa..

I remember having something similar when I was 13 and started my period. I was telling my parents it felt like my throat was closing up.  The dr thought it was anxiety.  They didn't give me anything and eventually, the axiety went away.

After my son was born 4 years ago, I would panic, but the past year has been the WORSE.  I am afraid of something happening to me or my kids.

I've decided to join yoga, I've been working out more and it seems to help around my PMS time.  any other suggestions, I really want to get a handle on this, otherwise I may have to take a small dose of celexa or whatever they decide to prescribe to me.

Hi.  It doesn't really sound like anxiety  (sounds more like depression, actually.)  Have you seen a regular doctor?  If not, I would start there and tell him how bad you feel.  He will probably start with routine labs to include a THYROID PANEL.  Sometimes weight gain, no energy, and sweating could be signs of hypothyroidism.  I'd start with ruling medical reasons out first, and if nothing abnormal is found on routine lab work, then go from there.  But definitely get a thyroid panel done (simple blood test) just to make sure your thyroid is OK.  Best of luck.

I don't know that i would say you suffer from anxiety simply because you procratinate alot.  It might be anxiety if you become really overwhelmed or feel anxious because you don't get your house clean or pay bills.  It could be that you're just a procrastinator and that's it..alot of people are.  It sounds like you could be a little depressed from the fact it sounds like you have low energy.  You may also have a medical problem if you're hot and sweaty all of the time.  Have you had a medical exam from a doctor?  Get physically cleared first, then worry about other issues.  And yes, xanax is highly addictive...talk to your doc about it.
