Anxiety, stomach pains, and panic attacks in the classroom

Hi all,
I'm brand new to this forum, so bare with me :o)
I'm currently a FT student in my last semester of school, and am taking 17 credits which includes a capstone class and required intensive elementary language course. After I came back to school from spring break, I started having these really painful feelings of having to urgently go to the bathroom in class all of the time. I would end up getting up and leaving class every 10 minutes to go to the bathroom, but nothing would happen. Eventually when I went back to class again, I started having anxiety attacks because I was worried about the feeling of urgency coming back, and didn't feel that I could handle it. Now I have missed nearly 2-3 weeks of classes because of this issue (which is the mandatory courses that are a great part of my semester requirements), and I'm in fear that I will fail my classes and not be able to graduate because of my anxiety attacks I'm having in class! I don't know how to medicate my stomach issues because it doesn't seem to be any problem in particular, just nervousness triggering stomach pains. I've been to a doctor and she gave me a couple diet alterations to try. And I got a prescription for Inderal 10mg, but when I took 3 it barely did anything.
Has anybody ever experienced anything like this? More specifically, does anybody have suggestions for managing anxiety/panic attacks in the classroom?

Well I do not know much about the Anxiety attacks but try different breathing methods. Also consult your teachers about this for they may help you. Also make sure to ask your doctor for ways to deal with Anxiety. As far as I know there is no way to treat it. Its a self occuring thing when you get frustrated. But he/she may have a suggestion of what to do. Stomach pains I am not sure about I need a bit more information on what you feel like when it occurs. Are you eating regulary, and during a panic attack try to ask your teacher to go outside into the hall for a breather. (Make sure you ask them ahead of time.)
Like I said before I am no expert but thats the simplest thing you can do to help these things.

Thank you Cam042! I did speak with my professors and, fortunately, they are very understanding of my situation. The breathing is a great tip, but I just can't seem to calm down to even breathe normally (sounds pathetic huh?). It seems to be happening more and more in different social situations. I think I have some kind of social phobia since it seems to happen when I'm around a lot of people (especially in tight, quiet spaces). I'm waiting to see both of my Dr's (therapist and primary physician) on Monday, so hopefully they can give me some tips or medication to manage the anxiety.

What you described is exactly what happened to me for the past 8 mnths or so. I would have to pull over to use the bathroom on the way to work, or not go places incase I had the urge to go to the bathroom. In the end i was told i had sever IBS which is made worse by stress and anxiety, whilst my IBS is not mainly under control due to meds and diet change, when I get anxious the toilet problems flare up again, which is so frustrating cause so feel like you need to go to he toilet NOW and then nothing happens, but what if you dont go and on that occassion something does happen...

Good Luck!
