Anxiety/Depression Med's...WTF!

Last time I went to my doc I told him I have anxiety.  He then gave me Cymbalta....I thought this was a med for depression.  I also read that if a person is not depressed, but has anxiety, and they begin taking this type of drug it will make their anxiety worse.   WTF!

What drug am I supposed to take?  Are anxiety meds and depression meds the same?
I realize that we all react differently to these type of meds but in your opinion which anxiety med is the best?

Cymbalta is for depression, but since depression and anxiety often go hand-in-hand, it helps many people with anxiety, too, just as other antidepressants, like Paxil do.

Your best bet is to see a physchiatrist.  They are trained in this area and will be able to give you a full workup, diagnosis, and treatment plan.  If you had a problem with your heart, you would see a cardiologist not a regular GP - the same thing applies here.... see a specialist in this area.
