hey all, on 5/15 you can see my posting about anxiety. its now one week later. i have been taking a .5mg klonopinKlonopin Klonopin wafer before going to bed each night.
i had been in a 3 month panicPanic disorder Panic disorder with agoraphobia that i was HIV positive until may 9th. i think now that two weeks have gone by since the definitive negative HIV test the anxiety is subsiding. the klonopin seems to have helped things get moving in the right direction as well.
i have resumed almost all activity and my energy level is almost back to 100%. i am 41 and just played soccer for 2 hours straight tonight; and 2 hours last night.
i am also doing therapy once a week to help with lingering anxiety, but i have found a road back and i wanted to let others know it can happen. the best part is that i am not even thinking about anxiety anymore.
wish all of you find the same peace and good fortune i seem to have found. i hope to wean myself off klonopin in about a month. has anyone else experienced this?
Congrats West! I also have scared myself into believe that I was HIV positive too (3 months too). I got the test and of course it is negative. Then I transferred those symptoms into believing I had MS (because of the numbness/tingling). I haven't tried any medications yet. I'm wondering if I should try Klonopin just before bed (like you do). I'm having trouble sleeping too and waking up just awful -- like I'm in the middle of a panic attack. Mornings are rough, but once I get the day started it is ok. At my work, I get this buzzing sensation in my feet (which drives my crazy). I'm sure it is anxiety related -- just a finer form of shaking or trembling. When I get home and relax, the buzzing seems to lessen.
i too thought i should get checked for MS after the HIV neg diagnosis. but now i am quite convinced its all just overwhelming anxiety that led to the neurological symptoms. i'm quite sure klonopin has really helped alleviate the neurological issues (burning sensations, waking up in panic, etc.)
i'd encourage you to try the same or similar anxiety med before going thru a battery of tests for MS. its more likely anxiety and if you begin to feel better you will enjoy it more than if you spend weeks worrying about MS.
if symptoms dont subside, id say go for MS tests; however, i think you will likely begin to feel much better.
exercise is key as well. your body needs to do something with all the anxiety energy. use the energy for working out, running, or swimming.
keep in touch. will be interested to know how you are doing.
