Anxiety Meds for certain occassions

I dont have a problem with anxiety on a regular basis but I have a strong desire to become a public speaker/entertainer but the anxiety I get is so ridiculous. I know it is normal to get nervous but it interferes with my dreams and passions. I feel as though my mind and body are disconnected. I will be mentally prepared and mentally comfortable to be infront of a crowd but my body has a mind of its own. I start seeing black spots, face turns red, and hands SHAKE uncontrollably. I have tried to combat these symptoms by practice but it simply is not working. I wanted to know if any anxiety medications would help with this or is it just a bad idea or simply wont work? Any suggestions on meds or techniques greatly appreciated.

Beta-blockers may be what you need. A lot of people like musicians and public figures use them for stage fright.

''There is clear evidence from many controlled trials in the past 25 years that beta blockers are effective in anxiety disorders, though the mechanism of action is not known. Some people have used beta blockers for performance enhancement, and especially to combat 'performance anxiety'. In particular, musicians, public speakers, actors, (especially, pornographic actors), and professional dancers, have been known to use beta blockers to avoid stage fright and tremor during public performance and especially auditions. The physiological symptoms of the fight/flight response associated with performance anxiety and panic (pounding heart, cold/clammy hands, increased respiration, sweating, etc.) are significantly reduced, thus enabling anxious individuals to concentrate on the task at hand. Stutterers  also use beta blockers to avoid fight/flight responses, hence reducing the tendency to stutter. Officially, beta blockers are not approved for anxiolytic  use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.''

what you can do is practice your things in front of a couple friends...or take slow deep breaths, drink some calming tea( not sleepy tea). let me know if this helps. P.S. these are the things i do before i perform in front of a big or small crowd. hope this helps!

That is very interesting! i have never heard of that I was doing some more research and im wondering how I could convince a doctor to prescribe without just saying i need to practice! Its so annoying I love being on stage and performing or talking and voicing my opinions and passions but my body like will not let me and nobody seems to understand! Thank you for that insight!

Thank you for that advice! I have tried the breathing and practicing but not the calming tea. I feel like my mind can not control my body I absolutely hate it and fear if I cant figure out something I will not be able to share my gifts to my full potential. The shaky hands and heart beating out of chest, blurred vision red face is so distracting and even if i try to ignore and push through know the audience is noticing that and that alone. :( Crazy bc I am not shy at all and only happens when I am in-front of crowd or group a more formal setting. Put me in a group though in front of stage and the symptoms of anxiety I get can be overcome but I want to be me to the best of my ability in-front of any crowd! thanks again!
