Anxiety Twitches

I notice that whenever I am super stressed out or I am just having a bad day I get these strange feelings in my head.  Like a twitch or little twitches by my temple or above my ear. Does anyone else get those?  Sometimes, it feels like my head is going to burst because I get tightness along with the twitches.  Is this a reaction to anxiety?

Thanks for updating and advising that medical professionals had looked at your case already. I would have never guessed that you think this forum works by disregarding what professionals say and finding someone else to do the diagnosis.

Over and out for me on this thread, and I wish everyone on this thread the best.

if you're tense, and your muscles have been flexed out of anxiety and tension for long periods of time, your muscles will occasionly twitch or move without your control. It happens to various parts of my body whenever i'm having extended periods of anxiety.

I get them too! At first they were migraines--but they're not. I just started some medication for anxiety and OCD. But what everyone's been talking about and all--well, the common thread seems to be anxiety. And I just got a clear bubble on the inside of my lower lip- think it's due to anxiety as well.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS,  I have spoken to a doctor.  I had an MRI done as well to make sure that there wasn't a neurological disorder because the twitches would wake me up at night.  Of course,  any feeling that is foreign to the body is going to make you alarmed.  I worried when I first felt the twitches because it was uncomfortable and scary at times.  My MRI results came out perfect with no sign of anything wrong or harmful  (knock on wood).

The reason why I am asking if it is anxiety or not is because I want to rule out the possibilites of sinus. I like comparing my symptoms/experinces with others on the forum. I suffer from both sinus and anxiety so for me either could be a possibility.  But,  I notice that stress causes the twitches,  not the sinus.

I've gotten plenty of answers from this board...thank you. This site is for people to chat with others and compare, support, and comfort one another. I have learned quite a lot by reading the posts here. Sorry if you havent caught on to how this forum works.

I am guessing that a lot of the twitch and other things you experience are felt by a lot of people who don't suffer from anxiety. You should talk to your doc about this, as your resulting fear may be unnecessary if there is no medical issue.
Lots of people get things like restless leg and a spam on their skin that feels like a burn throughout the day, but these are not anxiety related. It is easy to mistakenly think they are if you suffer from anxiety.

I don't think you will get any answers on this board  other than anecdotal which is of no value to your question unless the poster has talked to a doc,.

Thank you for responding to my concern.  At times, during stressful days, my head will also get a burning sensation.  Dont know if any of you have experienced that.

The twitches in my head can be quite frightening since they can go on strongly for a minute or two,  then come back and repeat the process throughout the day.

My head also gets a tightness. It hurts my eyes.

Oooops.....I forgot to mention that I too experience the Head Pressure along  with them....feels like sinuses doesn't it? Like your head is a huge balloon being blown up? Yes...I get it as well and once again "all due to Anxiety". It's very scary at times but don't let it get to you, that's what feeds it! :)

Ness...omg, u sound so much like me. The exact way u describe your head temple twitches, is the exact way I experience them. Wow...I've posted here about them previously and no one seemed to understand or maybe they just didn't respond, however, as I'm very sad that you too suffer with this, I also feel safe saying I'm not the only one or going crazy. So I thank u! I too experience these head twitches, it starts in my right temple ONLY for some reason and it feels like some sort of bubbley sensation. If I put my hand there to massage it away, I can actually feel it moving. I asked my Dr. about it and she said "It's Nothing to worry about". She mentioned that this a usually a muscle moving involuntarily due to "Stress". (BINGO) Notice we experience this during stressed situations. Recently my temple twitching have subsided but every now and than when I'm a little stressed...here it comes. Also, last week I started twitching in my nose area, right on top of my nostril (for a week straight) and than it went away. (Strange) :) It's all due to stress and Anxiety, so don't worry! If you like, see your Dr. on it...I'm sure you'll get the same response. Good luck Ness...and stay strong!

Not sure this is any consolation but I had lots of chest pains when I had a big anxiety problem a year ago. I saw the doc and she said it was muscles and tendons pulsing in my ribs. It scared me since it was on the left side, but the doc said a heart attack is a very hard pushing feeling as opposed to the sharp pain I had.
It all went away with the panic, when my med kicked in.

Your situation doesn't sound very serious to me either, but I am not a doc, so perhaps you could have it checked out. I have had little twitches (very itchy until I press on them for a millisecond) around the face for years before I had anxiety, but they come and go, so I think they are harmless. My doc said it is nothing.
