Anxiety and Cough

Hi.. Im Sammie... my question is simple my DR... thinks that my coughing is due to my anxiety... makes sense bc I make myself cough... x rays awhile back were fine and that was when it started... She believes I don't have a grip on the anxiety I am supposed to take Klonopin three times a day however I take it only as needed... She thinks I need to take it "religously" what do you think about all of it?

How bad is your anxiety?  If it's manageable, then take the stuff as needed and get into therapy and see if you can solve this.  Klonopin is generally dosed to be taken regularly, as it takes a while to act and lasts longer than other benzos, but some psychiatrists do dose it as needed.  It is an addictive med and hard to quit, so if taking it occasionally is all you need, I'd stick to that.

My X just came off Klonopin after being on for a short time, was put on it to sleep better at night, not a good thing to go on any Benzo family meds and the ween off time and withdrawls are bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Read the forums for people on Klonopin and make your own judgment but from what I have seen in my x husband since Dec. 9th has not been good especially when the drs. told him to go cold turkey!! Trust me, he wouldn't have me helping here as we haven't spoke in ages but he couldn't deal w taking care of himself or our kids w the w/drawls. Best of luck w your decision!!
