Anxiety and Numbness

Hey - i'm new to the forum - just found it this am - i've been diagnosed with anxiety disorder - and put onto 10mg celexa - this is my second time around - first time was a few years ago - i had full blown panic attacks - this time also - but this time i've had a lot of numbness in my face, arm, hand etc.  dr. believes its all panic related - and will eventually subside - but will get an mri just to be sure - anyone else experience the numbness - i've been on celexa for 2 1/2 weeks - do i just need to give it more time or maybe increase the dosage? thanks.

Give it at least 4-6 weeks for the celexa to kick in.

Yeah I get it too. Its not so much numbness its more like tingling. Almost like walking into a spider web. I get it mostly on my head, face and arms. Sometimes on the right side and sometimes on the left. I've been told by my doctor that its anxiety as well. If you go on reading that is a symptom that many of us have. I've also been prescribed Celexa but I havent gotten around to taking it. Scared I guess. What a surprise, lol.

at first i thought i was having a stroke, then heart attack.....but no...its anxiety...

I know, thats the first thing that crosses our minds. Stroke or heart attack. I've had the fear of having a heart attack since I was like 10 years old!! What the heck?!

wow!!  its great to be among "fellow sufferers"!!  i feel so alone - i feel like i'm going crazy - even though i know its anxiety - in my "heart" - it still is hard to get through to my head and body;-)  i guess i need to give it more time - maybe increase celexa to 20 mg like the dr. suggested - and breathe deeply!!!  thanks for all your comments!

i just took an ativan...and all my fears went away...im not recommending it...but it works for me.

Staying on this forum will really drive you nuts!!!  LOL..only kidding.  We all here suffer from the same or close to the same symptoms.  It is a great place to ask questions, or just to vent...we understand each other.  Welcome.

I get numbness in different parts of the body, mainly face and arms.  I have been diagnosed with GAD after doing all the tests the neurologist thought I needed to do.   I also have other symptoms like trembling and weakness in my upper arms and a strange feeling in the calves.  I can't believe that it is all anxiety related but I am not a doctor...so I guess I have to take their word for it.

With panic and anxiety, you can have all kinds of symptoms -as you've seen from reading responses. And you can have various responses to meds, as well. If you think something is amiss, call the doc and say so. For meds it can be as easy as talking to the receptionist and leaving a message:

"Hello, this is Shasta calling, I'm one of Dr. Freud's patients. He's got me on 500 mg of Xanax every hour, and lately I've been feeling really jumpy. I think I should cut back to maybe 400 mg and see how that goes. Can you please ask him if he has any problem with that?"

That's all you need to do. Call whenever you've got a valid concern -that what these people are paid for.

I am only 17 and have recently been suffering with numbness in the head and face along with tingling and dizziness.... when it happenes i then get myself into a state ... shaking and crying finding it hard to breathe ... can anyone help??

Have you been to the doctor and had tests run? I have the tingling and dizziness thing all the time too. How are you doing right now? I think about the dizziness things all day until it eventually exceeds into panic, like what you said!
