Anxiety and chest pain

Lately I have been having chest pains that kick in full blast when I try to lay down and sleep. It happens like every other night and I feel like my adredaline channels open up and flood my left side down my arm. I have never had problems sleeping before except for an occasional panic attack. I have had some chest pains before but this is a different form and at a different time. This is freaking me out but I don't want to see a doctor because they always tell me I'm perfectly healthy even though I feel like Im gonna drop dead. Does anyone else have this late night anxiety problem?

Chest pain can be an anxiety symptom. It sounds like your having GERD problems. It can be worse when you lay down and the acid comes up into your throat. Are you having any burning sensations in your stomach or throat? Since this sounds like a fairly new symptom for you the best thing to do is see your Dr. You need to find out if it's anxiety, GERD or something else that's going on. Your Dr can prescribe medication to control the acid if it is GERD, or he may suggest an over the counter med.Are you taking an anxiety and or depression med right now?  Do make an appointment to get in and see your Dr.  Remar

While I agree with Remar that this sounds like GERD, especially since it apparently only happens when you lay down at night, chest pains should never be ignored. That your left arm is affected as well needs to be brought to the attention of your doctor as GERD does not usually affect the arms. It CAN radiate pain to the jaw sometimes.
If the doctor you normally see blows these symptoms off, find yourself a doctor who will listen and take your symptoms seriously. If this is GERD and it is causing you to have chest pains, perhaps you should have an endoscopy. This is something to discuss with your doctor. (The one who will listen!)
I have GERD and take two perscription strength Prilosec everyday but still have the odd night time GERD attack. I keep a bottle of liquid antacid by my bed and take that then sit up in bed for about half an hour until it subsides.
Try elevating the head of your bed and see if that helps. But definitely talk to a doctor.

Thank you for all the great advice and care. I will be making an appointment tomorrow. I have stomach problems that will get bad but then completely clear up and then something else gets severe like my chest pains. I had mayo clinic do a major once over in 2001 and they told me I was one of the healthiest people they ever looked at. This made me feel horrible and this was before I was aware of anxiety. I thought I had a never ending  bout of gastritis, ibs, and reflux disorder because thats what Navy docs said. Mayo confirmed that I have a healthy body. I now am dealing with these new symptoms so I will go to the doc just to be sure it isnt really a physical problem this time. I will let everyone know what he says. I read many other peoples complaints and I sure wish the doctors could figure out how to help all of us. I feel like I am supposed to do so much more with my life but everytime I try to do something great my body shuts me down. In church we are in a series called Suffer well that is related to trying to get through the bad stuff with faith and it will help you through. Funny timing to start having these problems again. Thanks again to all who responded. Its nice to know people understand and care.

The chest pains turned out to be a problem with my scalene muscle groups which have a multitude of symptoms that resemble anxiety so doctors usually prescribe medicines that never work and you stay in a state of pain coupled with anxiety. Once I went to the doc and found that it was not my heart and he said it was anxiety I went home and the anxiety that I did have went away and the pain remained. I was able to research and get some neuromusclular therapy and it has been amazing. If you know anyone who suffers from chest, shoulder, back, arm and finger pain who thinks it is anxiety or carpal tunnel or anything else be sure they rule out the scalene muscle group that has formed trigger points causing all kinds of symptoms that are mostly misdiagnosed to the point of surgery in carpal tunnel diagnosises. Check out this website.http://saveyourself.ca/articles/perfect-spots/spot-04-scalenes.php and this one.  http://www.triggerpointbook.com/angina.htm. Hopefully this information can help others who have this chronic pain that definately creates anxiety.
