Anxiety and hormones

How is it we can be fine for several days, weeks or even years and then BANG it comes back with a rage?

I really thought I had this beat.  My ob-gyn said that my anxiety seemed to coincide with perimenopause and therefore has put me on a low dose progrestin pill.  I have been taking it for 3 weeks and felt so much better and now I'm in the fourth week and the anxiety is slowing creeping back.  It's so frustrating!

I am convinced that my anxiety is hormonally related but wish I could do something so that I feel better faster.  Has anyone else out there had a similar problem?  How do you deal with it?

Hi! I think hormones can bring it on. I am pregnant and last Monday, which would be when I normally have my monthly, my anxiety came back full force. I have had alot of people suggest that that could be why. I can have no problems for months, years, etc... then BAM! Its back. Its horrible. And after a long in between "episodes" Im back to thinking Im dying blah blah. Ive been struggling alot this past week on and off. I even sent a prayer request off to my aunts church (i used to attend there, but its been a while) and Im telling you  I got an overwhelming response from people who suffer with this. I have alot of people praying for me adn I can def. feel it! But sometimes it creeps in adn gets the best of me. I posted Sat. night when it did. I couldnt stop shaking :(  But I do have to say, I agree as far as hormones goes. I even get the palps at that time of hte month also. Take good care and I hope you feel better soon!

I would suggest using natural progesterone cream instead of synthetic pills. I've used it for a few years and it works SO well.

Thanks to both of you for your support!

Mama, When I was pregnant I felt terrible for the first 3 months, the anxiety made me feel like I was going insane, but I survived, but it's horrid to get through.  The good thing is, that it does not last, that's the only saving grace about anxiety, that there are good moments during the day!

Katie, could you tell me about the cream you mention?  I asked my doctor and she mentioned that the only problem with the cream is that it is absorbed into the body very fast and has a short lived affect whereas the pills are slow release.  What are your thoughts on this?

I must admit that I would much prefer using natural things.
