Anxiety caused by hormones and the Yasmin pill

I am 22 years old and have never had a big problem with anxiety or the contraceptive pills.  In July this year I had to come off the Yasmin pills because I was moving from Spain back to Ireland to look for work and had to re-order a perscription and so wait to restart the pills again... I missed 2 periods with no chance of being pregnant, so didn't start them again and started to get slight symptoms of anxiety such as palpitations, panic attacks, hot flushes, headaches, fatigue, dizziness and nausia. I decided at the end of September to restart the pill anyway and hope it regulates my periods again. I lasted 5 days and these symptoms became worse so I went to see my GP who said it was possibly anxiety from living on my own for the first time. I had blood tests done anyway and then also had my period again a few days ago after coming off the pills - the blood tests came back as having a suppressed hormone. I have no idea what this means! But I decided to start taking Quiet Life pills for the anxiety and also my pill again (as perscribed after 7 pill free days during which I had the period) and the symptoms like headaches and nausia are still there - and I know that these can be effects of the pill so I am unsure if it is the pill doing it to me or the anxiety.  Which is it likely to be and will these symptoms ease off? I have heard that the contraceptive pill can help with anxiety and hormone levels.
Please help, thanks x

I can't say for sure what is causing the anxiety but I do believe that a hormonal imbalance can cause anxiety.  It could be a combination of things.  The stopping and starting of the pill, living on your own for the first time and even the move.

I would suggest that you talk to your dr about what he/she thinks as far as taking the pill.  Once you make your move I think it might be a good idea to start talking with a psychatrist.  They truly a great outlet and they can help teach you coping skills to deal with the anxiety.  Also try keeping a journal because sometimes just getting some of your feelings out on paper really does help you.

Make sure you are eating healthy, getting enough sleep and exercising.

I hope you feel better soon.....Please keep us posted on your progress....
