Sounds like you are hyperventilating and purely a symptom of anxiety, esspecially as u said it all started since reading about heart disease.
I would get a referral to see a psychologist, who will teach you how to deal with your anxiety issues and make life far more enjoyable for you.
It still sounds like anxiety and I think you need to talk to your doctor about it. That it was strong enough for you to post on an anxiety forum tells me you're "concerned."
If it's been a year since you had your lipids checked, then it's time to test them again. Losing 35 pounds is excellent and eating better is great, but you can do all that and still have high cholesterol. I feel like I'm raining all over your parade here, but you're right. Anxiety IS extremely powerful and it's working it's power on you now with making you always think the "worst case scenario."
See your doc, get your cholesterol checked, think about some therapy.
Oh..........and that feeling of not being able to get enough air is a very common symptom of anxiety. BREATH.
Let us know how you're doing, OK?
Peace

No its not chest pains more like feeling that im not getting enough air in my lungs. I was told that my cholesterol was slightly high but that was a year ago and since then ive lost 35 lbs and exercise more and dont eat many fried foods. But anxiety is very powerful and my mind always thinks the worse case
It's pretty hard to avoid "heart conditions" while researching cholesterol since one can, and often does, lead to the other. (High cholesterol=CAD..........coronary artery disease)
Have you recently had a fasting lipid test done and were you told you had high cholesterol?
My guess is that you haven't if you're looking up symptoms and scaring yourself half to death. If you had been told your cholesterol was high, you would have been given all the reasons why you needed to lower it and how to go about that, perhaps even being put on a statin if diet and exercise aren't enough. (I sound like a commercial..LOL)
So, get off those dang symptom sites, call your doctor and have him send you a lab request for a fasting lipid blood draw, then sit down with him when he gets the results and get the facts and the answers about both your cholesterol and your cardiac status.
And now that I've said all that, I'm going to say something else and I don't want it or mean it to scare you. But, since you didn't say what kind of "heart problems" you think you were having, I must warn you to never ignore chest pain. If you could write back and explain what these feelings were, we could probably reassure you that they were just anxiety related..............but if they were bad enough for you to consider going to the ER, I think we should talk some more.
And for the love of Mike, do not now go on the symptom site and start looking up heart junk! PLEASE.
BTW...........we ALL hate anxiety. Oh........and liver and onions. (GACK!)
Peace
