I take the generic form of xanax and it helps.  I just wish there was a way we didn't have to take these medications to help us all the time.  I feel this is the only way it will help me with my anxiety, and I don't want it this way.

I have taken the generic xanax!!  I think I took it for about a yr and my body got so immune to it that my dosage prob needed to be upped.  Instead, they changed me to Ativan (well the generic Lorezapam) and that just don't work for me.  I haven't been able to work in 3 yrs and have RARELY left the house in the last 2 yrs unless its to go to a dr or the store.  And I def don't drive because my anxiety gets so bad that lots of times I will almost black out from being so dizzy and anxious. Taking meds suck, but if they get me out of the house and back to work, then I'm ALL FOR IT.  Thanx for your comment.

Hi and thanks for your comment!!  I was on klonopin for about 6 mos, but was on paxil at the same time, so i really couldnt tell if the klonopin was working or not!!  The paxil was pure he@@ itself.  I thought I would DIE getting off of that.  Thank you!!  I may be worth a try again!!

You may be in "tolerance" to Ativan. You need to start finding out more about the drugs you have been taking. The Ativan has "turned" on you. Do you know anything about "rebound anxiety?" Don't blame yourself for all your anxiety. The Ativan is "at this point" making it worse.

I think u may be right!! i did think a few weeks ago that the ativan was making my anxiety worse, but i didnt have a choice cuz i had nothing else 2 take.  ive never heard of rebound anxiety.  i just know that mine starts as soon as i wake up in the am and lasts until i go 2 sleep.  if i didnt take the ativan, id b shaking, trembling, my head dont feel right and id just b physically sick all day.  its THAT bad! But honestly the ativan BARELY even takes the edge off and i take 3 a day!! I havent found anything 2 work 4 me and so i havent been able 2 leave my house in almost 2 yrs due 2 my anxiety except 2 go 2 drs appt or store and thats pretty much it.

I think you should try the Klonopin again without the antidepressants. I had the same effect on ANY of the antidepressants. I would also advise you to read the book Hope and help for your nerves. I had to order it from the book store but it did help me to understand what was wrong with me. Once you accept the anxiety it starts to fade and gets to the point you can live with it.

Well the dr gave me Hydroxyzine today along with Pristiq.  Know anything about either med?

by jakegorzen, Jul 02, 2009 05:52PM
Hydroxyzine or "Atarax" is a Antihistamine, doesnt do anything for a person with EXTREME anxiety, thats what they gave me at first when all my stuff happened......actually made me worse because of the side effects of trembling.....and I was already trembling from nothing as it was.
Pristiq is a SNRI, just like all the other Anti depressants...same O side effects.
I can tell you now, that if you've been taking Xanax, Ativan, abd Klonopin in the past.....and the Docs just cut you off....then you need to find a different good Doc that will help you ween off.
And, if they are just adding these meds to you Xanax/Ativan, then dont take the Atarax with it, it could cause over sedation, and or death.

Well that's just great.  I tremble all the time too and I def don't need anything to make it worse.  I can't just get off of everything all together because my case is EXTREME.   I'm getting so frustrated because I just feel worse everyday.  The dr seems to think Pristiq will work for me, but I need something short-term also that is fast acting.  None of the drs here take my insurance and I haven't worked in 3 yrs, so it's hard to find a good dr that I can actually afford!!  What were you diagnosed with and what comb of meds worked for you if you don't mind me asking? God Bless You.

Sorry about that last 'blank' post. I get nervous and always hit the wrong buttons when I'm having a bad day. My anxiety makes me feel stupid. Sending blank posts, dialing up the wrong number on the phone. I take alprazolam, the generic name, I hope, for xanax. It takes the edge off, but I also hate being dependent on pills. I have to take thyroid meds and xanax to survive long term and I feel like such a wimp. Over the last 35 years or so I've been on so many meds but always came back to xanax...the other word is too long to spell correctly. When I read about trembling I remember when I was on lithium. The tremors were so bad that I only didn't notice them when riding in a big van we had for transporting dogs. The van was bumpy I couldn't feel the tremors when I was in it. I'm very impressed with your collective knowledge of meds. I'm very stressed out and anxious today...just waiting for the xanax to kick in.....

They diagnosed me with plain ol GAD.

Just one day....POOF...started trembling, and fealt kinda lathargic.
Went to a walk in clinic finally after 4-5 days, because I couldnt handle the trembling, and after discussing with the Doc, "He wasnt very bright" He said it was GAD/Anxiety

I told him I dont like pills.......exspecially addictive ones, so he gave me Trazadone and atarax
I wasnt really having sleeping problems at the time....but about a day later after talking to him...it began.."Sigh"
So.....I would go to sleep....and only sleep like 3 hours..for about a week or two. "I still havent took anything by then" and WAMMO NO SLEEP!
I would try to go to sleep, tremble, wouldnt be able to sleep, have twitches, lots of other stuff.
So I finally tried the Trazadone "He prescribed it as a sleep aid..not as a AD"
Well, it made my body feel really lazy and drunk, and when I stood up..I fealt like I could sleep, but right when I went to bed....couldnt sleep.
Went on and on..got worse and worse,,,No sleep for days, trembling, shaking, Derealization, blurred vission, heart pains, gasping for air, feeling like someone was chasing me with a chainsaw "Totally SHOCKED!" my nerves fealt like they were on fire....literally.
And after about...25 visits to the ER in a month "almost every night" they gave me 1 or 2
0.50mg ativan....worked a little..not much.
I couldnt stand it anymore, went to our walk in/ nurse practitioners cheap-o doctors, she gave me Klonopin, prozac.
Klonopin worked great, prozac made it worse,
I eventually started to look at the whole diagnosis of "Anxiety" to be a bit lazy.
the Doctors office and ER that said that are known to be REALLY BAD Docs, "dumb as h3ll, and work with state insurance drug seekers all the time" kind of docs.

I weened myself of both meds, joined CCHR "Anti Physc." and started researching.

Come to conclusion I have Lyme Disease, and am still looking for a good lyme Doc.

What makes me think Lyme "Long story short" I was prescribed some of the same type of Antibiotics as Lyme patients.....I FEALT GREAT..MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY"

And allot more other reasons I wont bore you with, lol
