Anxiety medicines effects

Hi,

I have been on Anxiety medication Ciraplex for almost 6 months as i got under the fear of HIV and had serious obsessive behaviour and was put on Cipralex and Xanax for 6 months, i Stopped taking it after i was tested negative for HIV after 6 months as i want to intoxicate myself from these medications.

From the day i have stopped taking him i am feeling a bit jerky now and than, i swet sometimes more than normal and i feel like my head jerks now and than once in a while every day and it scares me a bit.

My question is that, is this normal when you quit such medication? if not than maybe i need to get tested and see whats wrong with me, i am worried, kindly advice.

Hi.. did you stop cold turkey or did you taper off the medication under the supervision of your doctor? You should never stop an SSRI like Cipralex cold turkey and if your weaning off schedule is too fast you might experience some side effects....

i stopped cold turkey because i was feeling like getting addicted to it.
Shall i consult my doc on this, because i wanted to move on in life but it seems  my jerking sensation is still there, Do i need to see a Doc and explain him what happens or what?

Yes you should see your doctor... he/she will be better able to advise you on how to taper off the medication so as to minimize any side effects

Don't worry this is very common when tapering off an SSRI - especially when it's cold turkey.  I haven't been on an SSRI in over 3 years, but I was on them on & off for 10 years, so I have dealt with this before.  It needs to be a gradual process of coming off these meds.  SLOWLY over many weeks.  You well feel what they call "brain zaps".  Everytime I moved I would feel weird & dizzy.  It was very strange, but it does go away.  Please contact your doc about a plan to wean you off.  Good luck!
