Anxiety questions and Valium/alcohol

Hi everyone!
I have had bad stress and anxiety for over a month and know have a floating/inner rocking feeling in bed or when laying down. Like I'm moving/floating inside. Feels weird when I walk also. Feels like head is shifting sometimes. Constant dizziness. Heart and blood work came back fine. Why didn't I get this when I was stressed when I was younger? Anyone else feel this way?

Is it possible even if you relax for a day completely you are not healed and the anxiety is still there lurking and affecting you. One day I felt fine and was happy. Next day...Bam! Lightheaded and anxious all day. Errr!

*Also I was given Valium and I took 5 mg on sat night, 2.5 mg on Sun and 2.5 mg yesterday(Monday) at 3PM. It doesn't do much for me and I stopped. Is it OK to drink tomorrow afternoon(Wednesday) after work? I have never taken it before and all I took was the combined 10mg over 3 days.

Good for you!! You are already sounding more positive! Yes you are right, it can come and go, but will get less and less in between normally, then bam it's gone for a long time. At least that's how my body works with anxiety/stress.

I also notice when I run/workout my neck and back stop hurting almost instantly, I also feel great. Then in the evening, I'm tightening back up, and feel lightheaded/rocky boat feeling again on and off.

Mine will pass too, I know it will. I'ts only been about 7 or 8 days of this for me, and it can last up to 2+ weeks for me statistically. We are all different.

Keep up the good work. :)

Hey cnote.

Yeah Valium is the first medicine I have ever taken. Had three drinks after work today. I feel fine. Not intense alcohol feeling or anything. I stopped the small dose two days ago. Don't want to get on pills. I only took about 10 mg total in three days(ending Monday). When I go running, the anxiety stops for a bit but then comes back a little. Looking around on sites, they say anxiety takes a while to subside and to stick with dealing with it and eventually it will go away, as you said. They even say if your stress free for a day, the anxiety is not cured. I have felt good for a day and the next day....BAM, it's back. Takes a while I guess. Hopefully it ends soon :)

Amazing what anxiety can do to the body. Floating, rocking, sweating, dizziness, crazy thoughts, etc.

Is valium your very first medication ever written and prescribed to you for anxiety? If so, you are probably fine, but you need to just call your local Nurses Hotline and ask that question about drinking.

I give you mad props for trying to deal with it without medication. Valium and other benzos can be come very addictive (dependence wise) after 1-2 weeks of use.

If the valium didnt stop your sensations, then why continue taking a drug that's not helping? Just my 2 cents. But let your Dr. know you have discontinued. Chances are, he won't care. It's all about you taking care of you the way you want to.

I've been med free for a long time now, and will never touch a benzo or SSRI again. And I still go through bouts of anxiety, not as many as I used to, and not as bad.

I've had that feeling you are talking about. Matter of fact I've had it the past week on and off, especially in bed. When I close my eyes it feels like I'm rocking a bit or something not right. Sometimes even when I'm at work and looking at something I might feel like I'm moving slightly for a quick second. It's strange, but it doesnt worry me anymore.

I also have a stiff neck and shoulders and chest, muscles won't relax. Even have head spasms. This is all just my body's way of showing physical anxiety because I won't allow it to show mentally.

I'm getting better at dealing with this crap. Symptoms can just be scary sometimes when we've never felt them before. My advice is again to let your Dr. know you stopped taking the valium, ask if its okay if you have a drink, and last but not least, if you are not doing meds, see a talk therapist and learn to deal with it naturally.

I can almost 100% assure you that your strange feelings WILL LEAVE. They have too. Anxiety can not stay forever. It will eventually leave, it will try and come back, sometimes in a new way or form, but you can learn to cope with it each time.

Good luck to you!!! :)

Not adjusting it. I just stopped after just three doses. I only took a 5mg one on Sat, a 2.5 mg on Sunday and another 2.5 mg yesterday at 2 or 3 pm. Have had none since in the last 31 hours and I feel fine. No withdrawals or extra problems. I've had this anxiety and symptoms for a month and a half before I even was prescribed the Valium.

I was just wondering if a few drinks would be ok tomorrow. Not for anxiety but just being out with friends for a bit after work.

I wouldn't advise adjusting your dosage and then stopping without a doctor, it could be causing some of what you're feeling. Drinking alcohol will not help the anxiety.
