Anxiety worse in morning...frustrated

I have been on citalopram for six days and xanax for a month for bad anxiety attacks and all day long anxiety. The mornings are so much worse. Yesterday I had a fairly good day. I felt there was some hope of getting back to myself. In the middle of the night I woke with anxiety attacks and haven't shaken them yet. I am cold, shakey, vomiting, hot through my chest and arms, I can't eat, I keep feeling like I need to pee, I am jittery...the list goes on. Yesterday gave me hope, today robbed me of it. Will I always have the ups and downs through the night and morning? Am I adjusting to the meds? Is it caused by not having the meds overnight? Today was my day to up my citalopram to 10 mg...and I know that there may be side effects today which doesn't help my anxiety. I would love to hear anyone elses experience. Thanks!

It's not my journey but somebody else's that I thought you could glean some hope from.

Thanks so much for writing. Just hearing that someone else has being there helps so much. I am feeling a little better right now (by that I mean that I don't need to go to the ER, which is how I felt this morning). I am drowsy from the upped dosage. I wish you well on your journey!!

Give a look at this thread

http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Anxiety/Back-on-Cipralex-Lexapro/show/1557045

It chronicles his journey to getting better and what he felt with the lexapro he was taking.  You will see how he was in the beginning and how great he was doing at the end.  I know it is lengthy so maybe you can skip the posts that are not by CanuckGuy but try to at least read what he himself wrote.

Wow you sound exactly like me two weeks ago. Same symptoms always in the middle of the night. I would wake up with that nervous feeling in my stomach every day. I thought I was losing my mind.  You may want to ask the doctor for klonopin. It stays in your system longer and you don't get that crash like Xanax gives you when it wears off. I had that too where I would have a good day then a bad one. I am still not 100 percent but much better off than I was a couple of weeks ago.
I started on 10 mg and I am still on the 10. The only side effect I had was drowsiness which went away after a week. Hang in there....the meds will kick in.
