Anxiety

I went to see my doctor about a month ago because I was experiencing weird symptoms like if I was high on marijuna all the time which I also quit because of the symptoms. I felt like I didn't fully come down from the a high when I woke up the next day after a day of drinking and also snorting a couple of lines of cocaine. Everything seems brighter and larger now and I also have that inner voice in my head narrating my everyday life. I went to a Psychiatrist as well but he said It seemed like I had mild depression and anxiety and maybe the drugs just threw overboard what was already going to happen but other than that I was normal. I don't take medication because I read the side effects and they seem just as bad or worse than the actual illness. Do the symptoms relate to anxiety or something else. Any suggestion will help.

Thank you all for your feedback and advise. I have stopped all the drugs for a month already and I do still drink occasionally and smoke a cigarette here and there. I just want to ask BeeFree if the sight symptoms ever went away. Oh and Angelina14799, just for the record, the voice in my head is my own. I hope I don't have any permanent damage since I only used the drugs for a couple of months even though that doesn't matter since everyone is different. I thought marijuana helps anxiety? I guess not us.

I would encourage you to give the meds a try. I know it can be scarey, but they really can help and be worth it. I am living proof of this. If the medication you were perscribed doesn't seem to work or gives you side effects try something new. Just because the Doc wrote you a script for that pill doesn't mean you have to marry yourself to it! Also, if you are just way too freaked out for perscription meds try herbal homeopathic solutions. Lots of people swear by them and I know they have stress reducing options out there. Stop the drugs...the marijuana and the cocaine I mean. They screw with your brain and can give you more problems than what they are worth. Its funny you're okay with putting MJ and Cocaine into your body but not meds perscribed by a doctor to help you. Try it out and see how it goes! If you want a completely drug free option try therapy. It can help you overcome a lot! Good luck!

First of all, I guarantee you that medication to treat your condition is not anywhere near as dangerous as snorting cocaine or smoking marijuana and drinking. I am not a docter but I seriously doubt voices in your head are caused by "mild depression." Your symptoms could be related to anxiety but it could also be paranoia and brain damage from drug use. Rehab would probably be a good first step for you because you could get clean and sober and receive counseling. You may find that medication could bring you relief if it truly is an anxiety disorder.

Yes these symptoms are associated with anxiety and can be intensified by the use of drugs. I remember the "brighter, larger" sense of my surroundings from snorting cocaine very distinctly-- but I also remember the after-effects. And because I am generally a pretty anxious person to begin with, I am more susceptible to the paranoia and depersonalization that can follow. I can't even smoke marijuana for this reason.
I agree with what your psychiatrist had to say for everything except your being depressed. From your description this seems more like the effects from drugs and the confusion they have on the brain, even after you've stopped using them.
